Part III: She starts running towards the ice cream cart.
The run cycle took me the longest to work on. and still, feel needs a lot more work.
Version 1 of the animation that I submitted to Luke, my tutor is now on Vimeo.
FMP Feedback for the animation was positive albeit some changes have to be made.
- Add slight hips and chest animation to the 1st cam scene. – Leah’s surprise at spotting an ice-cream cart in the park.
- To give a more realistic feel to Leah, make the eye blinks drag – the left eye blinks 1 frame before the right eye does.
- Camera placement – 1st cam slightly to left so that Leah falls on the intersections of the rule of thirds grid
- Leah’s perspective of the ice cream cart cam – 1st frame more towards left, make the cart and Paul (Ice cream vendor) to fall on the right intersections of the rule of thirds grid.
- Add swing from down to up for Paul’s hand movement.
- Paul hips to move right rather than left to support his weight when he leans on the cart.
- Drag Leah’s hand movement a little behind to have a better overlap motion.
- Add a slight more bounce to Leah’s hips during her jump
- When Leah bounces back up, drag her lower jaw movement
I am having trouble with making Leah’s run cycle work for this scene like I want it to. Luke suggested the following reference video of a toddler trying to run.
Suggestion was to make Leah use her heel to land on the ground instead of tip toes when running, like the toddler in the video.
But I see Leah as a 6-7 year old kid and have been animating her with that age in mind and not a baby like in the video. I will keep the search on for more reference videos suiting Leah’s age and work on the run.
