To start character animation, it’s important to understand the rig and how the joints work. In class, this was what we were asked to do using a character rig. I used the following character rig to show a “sitting at desk pose”.
We got to work on a small animation of a rigged ball with tail character, to show and understand follow through. I had a little fun with the concept, where in one of the jumps, the ball gets stuck, and while trying to free itself, bounds out of the ring too high and too fast.
The principles of animation evident in this scene :
- Anticipation
- Arcs
- Squash and stretch
- Pose to pose
- Follow through
- Timing
- Staging
Walk Cycle
An assignment to animate a 100 frame walk cycle was given. I used the following rig to complete the task.
